the Defiant and Predator EV3© Roadsters
"Imagination is more important than knowlege."
Albert Einstien
Shockwave Motors is developing a "retro" style electric roadster reminiscent of the older Triumph sports cars, with long, flowing lines and gentle curves. This electric car, called the Defiant EV3© Roadster, has a top speed of about 75 MPH and a daily range of about 100 miles.
We are currently testing our prototype the Defiant in preparation for building the Predator. On a recent test, we drove the Defiant to Cherokee Lake. While the majority of the driving was done at about 25 to 30 MPH, this test run included speeds of over 50 MPH. We were almost continually driving up and down the hills surrounding the lake. The batteries are strong and efficient. We traveled over 27 miles and the battery pack still read 75%! The test drive averaged an incredible 87 watt-hours per mile. This is the equivalent of getting 389 miles per gallon!

Chassis Engineered for Safety
Our ground-up design and tubular steel construction gives us a lightweight and strong chassis with racecar like passenger protection. The low center of gravity provides a smooth and stable ride, even under adverse weather conditions.
We've also included video of the first road test of the initial version of the rolling chassis. While we did not break any speed records, we were pleased that operating on less than 15% of our designed power, we hit a top speed of just over 40 miles per hour!
The Predator EV3© Roadster brings an aggressive approach to styling, performance, efficiency, and affordability to the electric eco-sports car market. While the roadsters provide excellent performance with lead-acid batteries, optional Li-Ion batteries will boost the top speed and range of the vehicles.

Our Goal
At Shockwave Motors we are committed to developing an efficient, three passenger, electric car; a personal transportation vehicle that is an innovative combination of the best of today's propulsion technology; sleek, aerodynamic styling; and conventional, lead-acid, traction batteries.
Research studies have repeatedly shown that the typical commute is around 25 miles a day. Usually, there is only one person in the vehicle and that person may stop and do some shopping on the way home. Except in dense urban areas, there is resistance to use mass transit and many ride sharing programs fail. The HOV lanes are empty and yet traffic congestion is at its heaviest. People simply enjoy the freedom afforded them while driving alone. For many, the commute to and from work is the only time they have by themselves. The rest of their day is filled with interactions with co-workers, family, and friends.
Many people still want the driving experience to be fun and exhilarating. However, people are equally concerned about ever increasing gasoline costs, global warming, and energy efficiency. A well-designed electric car meets those needs and will address many personal concerns.
Our primary market is the commuter driving less than 100 miles a day.
Auxiliary Power Trailer
With our 100-mile daily range and to keep the cars lighter, we moved the hybrid-electric components to an easy to attach trailer. The Auxiliary Power Trailer (APT) is attached, as required, to boost the range of the roadsters for extended trips. This approach creates a "series hybrid" and relies on the small, efficient, internal combustion engine strictly as a power source for an electric generator.
