Several have asked how Shockwave Motors got started; so we’ve created a short video that describes the origins of Shockwave Motors, highlights what we’ve accomplished to date, and where we are heading in the future. 14 October 2011:
Shockwave Motors participated in the National Plug-in Day that took place in Knoxville, TN. This was an unprecedented nationwide observance drawing global attention to the environmental, economic and other benefits of plug-in electric vehicles through events staged in at least twenty major cities nationwide. We have finished the video from the event (combining video from East Tennessee Clean Fuel Organization with our video). We’ve titled the video, “Plug-in America and Run Circles Around the Gas Pumps!”
December 2009:
We celebrated the Christmas season by entering the Defiant into the local parade. We decked the roadster out with hundreds of lights and drove 21 miles round trip in 39-degree temperatures. The Defiant was decorated in the Candyland theme of the parade. To keep the decorations from blowing off, I did kept the speed under 30-MPH. The amazing thing was, even in the cold temperatures, since I drove at a lower speed - the energy consumption was a new record, under 60 watt-hours per mile - or a truly unbelievable 601 MPGE! Merry Christmas from the Shockwave Motors team!
17 November 2009: We've made the news!!! The Defiant EV3 Roadster was featured on the local NBC affiliate, WBIR. Here is a video of the report.
6 November 2009: While we've been busy performance testing The Defiant EV3 Roadster, we've taken the time to shoot a video to give you a taste of what it's like to drive our roadster.
22 October 2009: We attended the Electric Vehicle Expo in Knoxville, TN. There were numerous neighborhood electric vehicles and one $70,000 E-Box from AC Propulsion. East Tennessee Clean Fuels Coalition was a sponsor of the event and posted a YouTube clip of part of an interview with John.
3 October 2009: The Defiant EV3 Roadster uses a small solar panel to recharge the 12-volt auxiliary battery. The auxiliary battery is used to power the lights and accessories; this prevents an unnecessary drain on the main battery pack. Since we use a solar battery charger, we were invited to show the electric roadster the Knoxville Solar Energy Show.
23 May 2009: The Defiant EV3 Roadster© debuted at a car show in Morristown, TN. In less than two hours, 134 people visited with us. Several comments are included as well as video of the Defiant on the streets of Morristown. Watch the video of the debut.
